Introduction to Input Device

Computer System एक electronic machine है जो data को process करती है। लेकिन Computer खुद से कोई decision नहीं ले सकता। उसे work करने के लिए instructions की need होती है。

Definition (परिभाषा)

Input Devices वो hardware components होते हैं जिनका use User द्वारा Computer को Data और Control Signals भेजने के लिए किया जाता है। Computer हमारी human language (Hindi/English) नहीं समझता, वह सिर्फ Machine Language (0 और 1) समझता है। Input Devices हमारे instructions को machine readable format में convert करते हैं ताकि CPU (Central Processing Unit) उन्हें process कर सके。

Types of Input Devices (Detailed Breakdown)

Input Devices को उनके function के base पर different categories में divide किया जा सकता है:

Category 1: Typing Input Devices

1. Keyboard

Keyboard कंप्यूटर का most common और primary input device है। इसका use text और commands type करने के लिए किया जाता है。

Working Mechanism: जब हम कोई key press करते हैं, तो keyboard controller उस key का ASCII Code CPU को send करता है。

Key Categories:

• Alphanumeric Keys: A-Z, 0-9.

• Function Keys: F1 to F12.

• Special/Modifier Keys: Ctrl, Shift, Alt, Enter.

• Navigation Keys: Arrow keys, Home, End.

Sub-types of Keyboard Layouts:

• QWERTY: यह world का most popular layout है। इसमें top row के first 6 letters Q-W-E-R-T-Y होते हैं।

• AZERTY: यह mainly French-speaking countries में use होता है।

• DVORAK: यह layout typing speed increase करने के लिए design किया गया था, जिसमें most used keys middle row में होती हैं।

Category 2: Pointing Input Devices

Pointing devices का use screen पर Cursor या Pointer को move करने और icons को select करने के लिए होता है。

2. Mouse

Mouse एक hand-held pointing device है。

Functions: Click, Double-click, Right-click, Drag and Drop, Scroll.

Sub-types of Mouse:

• Mechanical Mouse: इसमें bottom में एक rubber ball होती थी जो surface पर move करती थी। (Old technology).

• Optical Mouse: यह Light Emitting Diode (LED) और sensors का use करता है movement detect करने के लिए। यह fast और accurate होता है।

• Wireless Mouse: यह computer से connect होने के लिए wire की जगह Radio Frequency (RF) या Bluetooth technology का use करता है।

• Trackball Mouse: इसमें ball ऊपर की तरफ होती है। User device को move नहीं करता, बस thumb से ball को rotate करता है cursor move करने के लिए।

3. Joystick

Joystick भी एक pointing device है जो एक stick की तरह दिखता है। यह 360-degree direction में move कर सकता है。

Use: Mainly Gaming और Flight Simulators (Pilot training) में aircraft control करने के लिए use होता है。

4. Light Pen

Light Pen एक pen जैसा device है जो light-sensitive होता है。

Use: इसे directly CRT Monitor की screen पर draw करने या objects select करने के लिए use किया जाता है। यह mainly CAD (Computer Aided Design) में engineers और architects द्वारा use होता है。

5. Touchpad (Trackpad)

Touchpad laptops में mouse का replacement होता है。

Working: यह एक touch-sensitive surface है। जब user अपनी finger इस पर move करता है, तो screen पर cursor move होता है。

6. Touchscreen

Touchscreen एक ऐसा display है जो input और output दोनों का work करता है。

Working: User अपनी finger या stylus से screen touch करके commands देता है。

Types:

• Resistive: Pressure से work करती है (Stylus needed).

• Capacitive: Human body के electrical charge से work करती है (Smartphones में use होती है).

Category 3: Scanning Input Devices

Scanning devices physical documents (Hard Copy) को digital format (Soft Copy) में convert करते हैं。

7. Scanner

Scanner photos या documents को read करके उन्हें images में बदलता है。 Sub-types:

• Flatbed Scanner: इसमें एक glass surface होती है जिस पर paper रखा जाता है। (Office/Home use).

• Handheld Scanner: इसे हाथ से document के ऊपर drag किया जाता है। (Barcode reader is an example).

8. MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition)

MICR technology banking sector में use होती है。

Function: यह bank Cheques के bottom में लिखे special numbers को read करता है जो Iron Oxide (Magnetic Ink) से print होते हैं。

Benefit: यह highly secure और fast है。

9. OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

OCR scanned documents या images के अंदर लिखे text को identify करता है और उसे Editable Text में convert करता है。

Use: Printed books को digital e-books में convert करने के लिए。

Category 4: Digitizing & Audio/Video Devices

10. Digitizer (Graphic Tablet)

Digitizer एक tablet जैसा pad होता है जिसके साथ एक stylus (pen) आता है。

Function: यह analog information (Drawing/Handwriting) को digital signals में convert करता है。

Use: Graphic Designers, Artists, और Map makers इसका use drawing और sketches बनाने के लिए करते हैं。

11. Microphone

Microphone (Mic) एक audio input device है。

Function: यह sound waves (Audio) को electrical/digital signals में convert करता है。

Use: Voice recording, Online chatting, Speech recognition systems.

12. Webcam

Webcam एक small video camera है जो computer से connected होता है。

Function: यह images और video capture करके computer को input देता है。

Use: Video conferencing (Zoom, Skype), Security surveillance.

Category 5: Remote Input Devices

13. Remote Control

Remote control एक wireless input device है जो devices को distance से operate करने के लिए use होता है。

Technology: यह instructions भेजने के लिए mainly Infrared (IR) signals या Radio Frequency (RF) का use करता है。

Use: TV, Projectors, aur Presentation slides control karne ke liye.
